Folded Corner Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 November 2026
In short: Folded Corner keeps your books, quotes and notes on your own device. We do not collect, store or sell any of your data, and there are no accounts. The Android app shows small banner ads from Google AdMob, and Google collects some device information to show them (see "Ads" below).
Who we are
Folded Corner is a reading app for Android and Windows, published on Google Play by the developer account MyWorldlives. Questions about this policy: abdullah@benchwellhq.com.
What stays on your device
Everything you put into the app stays on your device and is never sent to us:
- the books you open (PDF, EPUB and Word files) and your reading position, bookmarks and highlights
- the quotes, notes and photos you save
- your settings and reading statistics
Read aloud turns text into speech on your device. Your books are not sent anywhere to be read out.
When the app connects to the internet
Reading works offline. On Android the app goes online to load ads (see "Ads" below). Apart from that, it only goes online in these cases, and only when you choose to:
- Natural voice download. If you download the natural read-aloud voice, the app fetches the voice file from GitHub (github.com). Like any download, GitHub sees your device's internet address. No book text or personal information is sent.
- Cover pictures from a web address. If you add a cover picture by pasting a web address, the picture is loaded from that website.
- Sample books. If you choose to load the sample books, their cover pictures are loaded from Unsplash (unsplash.com).
- Sharing and feedback. When you share a quote or tap Send feedback, the app hands the picture or email to the app you pick (for example your email app). Folded Corner itself does not send them.
Ads
The Android app shows banner ads on the Library and Quotes screens, never inside a book. The ads come from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, and to prevent fraud, Google's ads software may collect:
- your device's advertising ID and general device information (such as model and operating system)
- your internet address and approximate location derived from it
- how you interact with the ads (for example, when an ad is shown or tapped)
This information goes to Google, not to us. Your books, quotes and notes are never shared with Google or anyone else. In the European Economic Area and the UK, the app asks for your consent before showing personalised ads, and you can change your answer at any time under Settings, Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Google explains how it uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. The Windows app shows no ads.
Permissions
- Camera, only if you take a photo for a cover or a note. Photos stay on your device.
- Internet, for ads and the cases listed above.
- Advertising ID, used by Google AdMob as described under "Ads".
What we do not do
- We do not collect personal information, usage data or device identifiers ourselves.
- We do not use analytics tools.
- We do not sell any data, and we never share your books, quotes or notes.
Backups and deleting your data
If you make a backup, it is saved as a file where you choose, and you control it. To delete everything, delete the app's data or uninstall the app.
Children
Folded Corner is meant for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
